Public Engagement
I am the founder and operator of Mesoamerican Studies Online (MeSO), an online source of academically-based knowledge on Mesoamerica. I provide blog posts, a podcast, and online courses on various topics and by many Mesoamericanist scholars to increase awareness and knowledge of Mesoamerica and its rich cultural legacy.
Community Events
In the past I have participated in community events teaching students of all ages how to read and create hieroglyphic phrases, how to understand Mesoamerican codices, and more.
Classroom Visits
I enjoy making classroom visits and have done so both in person and virtually. I love seeing young students apply new principles as they learn about the ancient Maya. For educational resources from workshops I've put together, click here.
Online workshops
I have collaborated (in both English and Spanish) with other online platforms to create online workshops lasting from one to seven weeks online. These workshops are free, digitally accessible classrooms for students of all ages to learn about cultures of the ancient Maya and Mesoamerica.
